Columns, Ceilings & Walls! - Week 20, Monday

The basic columns are in. They still need to be trimmed, but you can get a good idea of how they would look.

Below you can see the start of the walls and ceiling! It was very exciting to see the separation of spaces finally. I kept trying to walk through walls though :)

Columns! - Week 19, Friday

A basic test column is in for us to check out and approve before they build the other ones. It looks great! It was a little hard to see because the first one they built is kind of in a bush, but I think the proportions look good and once they are all trimmed out they will be just right.

I guess it was pretty difficult to get the angles just right on the top, I never thought about how hard it would be to put these together. They are truly custom built!

Insulation Continues, Front Columns & Back Porch - Week 19, Thursday

Last time I took photos at the house, only the main level and upstairs had insulation in. Today, the insulation in the basement is nearly complete as well.

 Some new improvements to the back porch are that the upper beams have been boxed in and the side supports are ready for the columns to be built around them.

We moved some plants up from Eugene (left) to plan in the yard when it's ready!

Start of the front columns! I am VERY excited to see this. I'm sure the house is going to look so much more finished and balanced with the columns in. Right now, it just looks like a big beast on little stilt legs :)

Insulation installation! - Week 19, Tuesday

As you can see below, the insulation installation has begun. It looks like peeps infested the walls and were wrapped in plastic. It's amazing how much warmer it feels in here already!

Insulation - Week 18, Friday

I brought my parents by to check out the house progress today for my dad to start measuring for our landscape plan.
This is what we found:

The materials were all over the house so it was a little hard to walk around. Pretty excited to see the start of real walls. I bet the workers will be happy to have the insulation too. It's been cold!

Tile & Countertops Final Plan - Week 18, Thursday

Today we met with Oliver to finalize the plan for all tile and countertops. It was an incredibly productive meeting and I think the plan is set in stone...no pun intended :)

Exterior Sided & Primed, Insulation Begins - Week 18, Thursday

Siding is complete...the shape shifting house changes colors again! I know I've said this before, but it REALLY looks like a house now! We're really pleased how things are coming along and the house is looking great. I love the 4" LAP siding and simple trim. The crew did a VERY nice job putting up the siding. It is very tidy and perfectly aligned in all areas. Even the nail heads are in a nice pattern!

Now it's time to start thinking about color for this little guy. Everytime the exterior changes, I think I want to paint it a similar color. When it was plywood, I thought about a brighter color or possibly brown; when it was covered in the black wrap, I was thinking a dark gray (either with a blue or warm/taupe tint); and now that it is primed light gray, I am thinking a light color might be nice. Decisions, decisions...

Inside the house, all the electrical, plumbing and HVAC are complete with final inspections. Insulation has begun.
